Particle Surface Flow

So to start off this blog, I figure the first thing I'll post is what I'm working on right now.


I have recently developed a big interest in learning how to use Houdini and create cool VFX, and currently I'm working on making a sort of... surface flow thing in Houdini. I'm quite a newcomer with Houdini and we don't really work with it as part of my course, so I've been mostly relying on watching a bunch of different tutorials and trying to figure things out!


Below is what I've got going on right now. I use the geometry as a particle emitter, and a trail node to give each particle a bit of a... trail.


I quite like how it's turning out. I still haven't gotten around to doing test renders or anything of the sort, though! I'm hoping to refine that effect and sort of sombine it with either a pyro effect, for smoke, ooor this other effect I worked on last week, which you can see below!



To create these effects, I relied a lot on these awesome tutorials!
